A cover that works

Install Siren as a calculator or a notes app and that is what it is on your home screen, and what opens when someone else taps it. The calculator calculates and the notes save. Your code gets you past it.

How it works

  1. Turn on Stealth mode and pick a cover: Calculator or Notes. Both really work. The calculator calculates and the notes save.

  2. Choose a code of 4 to 8 digits; the cover will not go on without one. On the calculator, type it and press equals. In Notes, type it in the search box and press enter.

  3. Only the code gets past the cover. Keep it to yourself: if you forget it, delete the website data for mysiren.app in your phone's settings and sign back in with a recovery code or another phone of yours.

  4. Remove Siren from your home screen and add it again. The name and icon are fixed when you install, so this is also how you change cover later.

Where to find it

You → Safety and privacy → Stealth mode. You can also pick one while signing up.

What it will not do

With the cover on, a notification never says who wrote or what they said. The cover does not stop someone who knows your code, so keep it to yourself.

The condition

The name and icon come from what you installed, so changing cover means removing Siren from your home screen and adding it again.

Why it works this way

A cover is only a cover if someone who opens your phone sees another app. So there are two that really work rather than six that only look right, and each is named in your phone's language, so it sits among your other apps without standing out.
